Let’s talk; Top 3 under-rated European City Breaks

GDANSK, Poland

Just 25 mins from GDN airport, Gdańsk blends amber, maritime history, and Baltic charm. Wander the rebuilt Main Town’s colourful merchant houses along Długi Targ, admire the Neptune Fountain, then stroll the Motława waterfront past the medieval Crane. Climb St. Mary’s Church for rooftop views, learn how Solidarity began at the European Solidarity Centre, and browse amber shops on Mariacka Street. Finish with pierogi and fresh fish, or a day on the beaches of nearby Sopot.

TARRAGONA, Spain

Just an hour south of Barcelona, or a speedy 20 mins from Reus airport, Tarragona wears its 2,000-year history proudly. Once the Roman city of Tarraco, it’s home to a UNESCO-listed collection of ruins, including a spectacular seaside amphitheatre where gladiators once fought with the Mediterranean as a backdrop. Wander the medieval Old Town’s winding lanes up to the grand cathedral, then stroll the Balcó del Mediterrani for sweeping sea views. With golden beaches and far fewer crowds than its famous neighbour, Tarragona is a perfect blend of history and sunshine

BERGAMO, Italy

Tucked beneath the Lombard Alps, and just an hour from Milan. Bergamo is a city of two halves, and both are worth your time. Perched on a hilltop, the Città Alta is a medieval walled town of cobbled lanes, Venetian ramparts, and the glittering Colleoni Chapel, all reached by a charming funicular ride. Below, the Città Bassa hums with elegant boulevards, boutiques, and the excellent Accademia Carrara art museum. Come hungry: this is the home of polenta e osei, stracciatella ice cream and rich local cheeses like Taleggio. Whats even better is that its located a short 20minute taxi from Milans low-cost airport BGY.
